The provincial cannabis tax revenue in Canada surpasses those for beer and wine.

For the first time in a while, Canada’s national authorities collected more tax revenue earnings from hemp than it did from beer and wine.

A political committee is proposing that the government cut back on the cannabis income.


The federal government received 61.02 million Canadian dollars ($ 501 million ) from excise duties on beer in the fiscal year2022-23 that ended on March 31.

In the same fiscal time, tax from different materials was:

$ 277.6 million from liquor in CA. CA$ 204. 5 million from manufactured nicotine

In comparison, federal tax obligations on cannabis totaled 894.6 million in the same year, of which 667.6 million were paid to the provinces and territories.
