According to MJBizDaily, Canada’s tax collection agency is following through on a risk to garnish income from qualified cannabis manufacturers who are delinquent on their tax work payments.

The Canada Revenue Agency’s efforts to collect funds from federally regulated hemp companies with excellent tax bill have exploded in recent years as the industry’s economic difficulties have grown.


As of March 31, 2023, almost three times the amount of paid federal excise tax owed by Canada’s cash-strapped pot businesses had soared to nearly 200 million Canadian money ($ 155 million ), an almost tenfold increase over the prior fiscal year.
