According to the Congressional Budget Office, the House Bill to Replace Marijuana As A Barrier To Federal Employment Or Security Clearances contains Moot Provisions.

According to the Congressional Budget Office ( CBO ), a bill to prevent people from being denied federal jobs or security clearances for using marijuana in the past would have “negligible” costs for the government. This is largely because, according to analysts, current federal record-keeping regulations wo n’t allow for provisions on reviewing past denials.

The House Oversight and Accountability Committee was scaled-backly cleared in September by the republican policy of Exercises. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), Nancy Mace (R-SC), and Earl Blumenauer.

The amended Cannabis Users ‘ Restoration of Eligibility ( CURE ) Act would generally stop federal employment denials and security clearances based on a person’s prior cannabis use. Even though those clauses were dropped in council, it would have still applied to existing weed use.

The bill’s measures that would involve companies to establish a procedure to evaluate each prior decision to refuse security clearances or employment opportunities due to cannabis use going back to January 1, 2008, were the main focus of CBO research.

According to the current law, “records of staff registration and surveillance certification determinations are designated as momentary information and can be destroyed after a short period.”
